Bear Necessities

Postby Silver Snow » Thu Dec 29, 2016 11:39 pm

//OOC: This thread is for player reactions and responses to the brief event OS hosted involving a certain bear-like creature! Apologies for the delay in getting it up; I intend to keep it separate from my other thread regarding the area.

The days following the encounter in the forest, Elhokar would be certain to stick somewhat closer to the surrounding lands. It was true that a long winter was passing, and creatures that had been dormant since even before he came here would start to stir. The unnaturally heavy concentration of bears in one area would take a toll on the land, but the druid did what he could to mitigate that. The encouragement of more mountain fish into the melting mountain streams was a start, and he would make the attempt to discuss the possibility of sacrificial sheep with the shepherd that had led him and the others there.

Elhokar would visit often, even the cave in question on brief ventures, and more interestingly..it would be often enough that the druid brought a bear with him. Three, he had encouraged to stray near enough to the domain, though none were forced to attend the bear's court by the Lion.
All this was not done as a subject, or a vassal..but as one diplomat to another. Elhokar did not wish to see what might happen if this beast did not get his way..or if he thought he could freely walk and take from Elhokar's own protected lands.

Enforced or no, the bears that are brought to the domain of the entity neighbouring Filur seem willingly to reside there upon contact with the reigning occupant. The Druid that guides them to their new home might observe the newfound docility of the bears that call the falling streams their habitat. They laze, still likely in the throes of a winter which - however temperate - is not to their liking. They go in and out of the cave occasionally, never changed or altered by the visits beyond their continued sense of torpidity.

As for the resident of that cave: it appears pleased with those that Elhokar Ravenmane brings to its perceived kingdom. The bears lend their deference easily enough, and for as long as Elhokar refuses to bend knee to the being, his favours to it feel increasingly like dead end diplomacy. The thing is solely concerned with its own worship, and seems too simple of behaviour (perhaps not mind) to express gratitude to the Druid for his strong communion with Nature's creatures. It issues him the instruction of bringing yet more bears to its kingdom. Maybe doing so would provide some headway as the Druid continues to navigate negotiations with a creature heretofore and hereafter unknown to him...
