Letters home - Kara Shemov

Postby TearsOfFire » Sun Apr 14, 2024 11:26 am

Dear mother, father and uncle,

I thought you should know I have made it safely to Sarshel and overall, the journey was a positive experience.

However, I lost grandmothers flute during the journey. Except I am not so sure it was truly lost. I found a hole in my bag around the same time I discovered it was missing and my bag was in good condition prior to the hole. The leather was not worn or anything.

I did try to inquire with the other travelers, but nobody knew anything, and I was told to take better care of my things. I am so angry with myself for not carrying grandmother’s flute on my person.

I have acquired a new flute here in Sarshel, it is nothing like grandmothers, but at least I can still play, and hopefully earn a little coin to supply my travel funds. I have tied a cord around the new flute and wear it on my person at all times.

Two wonderful individuals assisted me in acquiring the flute. Miss Vixena helped me, help a farmer with a job, so I could afford it and mister Varek escorted me around Sarshel and gave me helpful advice. He even went with me to barter for that new flute, and for that I am thankful. The seller of the flute was worse than our patrons back home, they at least had the excuse of being drunk. I suspect, he might have had even fewer manners, if Mr. Varek had not been present.

I hope you are all well back home and will write again soon.

Love,

Kara
