Daemonic research

Postby Astral Fire » Sun Nov 13, 2016 1:39 pm

As agreed a few days before, at the first lights of a cold morning of Ukthar, three people depart from the stables outside Sarshel. Adorned Cassandra, assisted by two wizards, Gwen and Lori, that know well the library of Songhall, has decided to try to research some information, working on the theory that the different daemons might be related to the 7th Myrtul or one or a specific cult.

Once arrived in Songhall, as first thing, she’d ask to act with great discrection and to find a copy a map of Impulitur, then she’d proceed to mark every daemon activity on the map, that she learnt and heard of in all the days spent asking questions around about these paranormal activities, with the relative dates:

• Sarshel, the Temple of the Triad, 7th Myrtul
• Assault to a local dwarven shrine, about a month after the 7th
• Songhall, the Velvet Chantry, 13th Marphenot
• The lonely tower, the one inhabited by orcs as well
• The sacred place close to Flur where the last deamon was defeated about a week ago
• She also indicates the village of Stowside as another possible site of deamon activity

Along Gwen and Lori, she'd proceed to make connection between the different sites (geometric, historical or local) to find any correlation (for example she'd verify with their help if the different sites could be linked through lines to form some kind of geometrical shape, or if there's a chronological pattern).

Then she’d suggest the two wizards to start researching into the local lore and tomes information regarding these specific elements, adding some new criteria and merge the different data acquired, in particular:

• Massacres or sudden strange events like disappearances of entire communities
• Sudden children disappearances or murders
• Odd climatic changes (apart from the never-ending winter)

If the data are found, she’d aid the two wizards to find geometric and or any kind of pattern to see if these elements are somehow related, or if they could identify some new correlation that was just ignored until that moment.

//OOC: for the ones involved, feel free to add whatever insight you may have and add your rolls for the research if it's the case :)

The cold road to Songhall was travelled once more for Lori, its snowbound ascent not becoming any easier for one of a genteel upbringing, in spite of its repetition over recent years. Some wardings against the cold, and some transmutations to toughen her slight frame did go some way to making the journey easier, but only some way. She had pursued something like Cassandra's idea herself not so long aog, and while she had drawn a blank that time, the extra strands that the priestess had drawn into the search gave some small glimmer in the wizard's mind that this particular door was not yet fully shut. A small glimmer for sure, but it was at any rate a "safer" avenue of research than the other that was making its home in her mind, the one that she knew should be sent packing to wander homeless, before it would cause more harm than good. Still, this was a dangerous time, and perhaps some risks should be taken. Or perhaps not, that decision was not for this trip, as she turned her attention to the maps, and once more delved into local archives for some buried nugget that could show the next step. A day or two in the libraries once more, but in a moment of quiet, she makes her excuses for a need for a walk and some fresh (very fresh in the mountains) air to make for an abandoned residence to the west of the library, clearly looking for someone.

(Knowledge Rolls, if required: Arcane 6+13 = 19; Planar 7+13 = 20; Geography 7+4 = 11; History 16+4 = 20; Local 2+6 = 8)
